Three Americans have been sentenced to dying in Congo after being convicted on costs of collaborating in a coup try, with one telling a courtroom that his father — who led the failed effort — “had threatened to kill us if we didn’t observe his orders.”
A lawyer representing 21-year-olds Marcel Malanga and Tyler Thompson Jr. and 36-year-old Benjamin Reuben Zalman-Polun, is now planning to attraction the decision following the botched assault orchestrated by Malanga’s father, Christian Malanga, in Could that focused the presidential palace and a detailed ally of President Felix Tshisekedi.

Thompson’s household says he had no data of the elder Malanga’s intentions, no plans for political activism and didn’t even plan to enter Congo. He and the Malangas have been meant to journey solely to South Africa and Eswatini, his stepmother, Miranda Thompson, instructed the AP.
“We urge all who’ve supported Tyler and the household all through this course of to write down to your congressmen and request their help in bringing him dwelling,” their lawyer in Utah, Skye Lazaro, stated to the information company, including that the household is heartbroken over the decision.
